Dear Company Owners, Leaders of Organizations, and HR managers, please download and utilize our Executive Recruiting, Development, and Retention Guidelines! These guidelines will help you attract and retain top-tier leaders, identify and nurture your leadership talent pool, and ultimately build a ‘premier league’ management team!
Over the course of two days of intensive and focused discussions, the members of the Adizes Practitioners’ Club identified the risks associated with succession planning in management and formulated recommended action models. Drawing from our collective experience of over 350 years in management, we have collectively achieved a total turnover of 400 million euros. We are pleased to share our insights openly to contribute to the continuous improvement of management practices.
Here are categories of hurdles companies face when trying to attract, nurture and sustain leaders:
- character traits of the owners – unwillingness to prioritize better management approach, etc.;
- character traits of hired leaders – reluctance to get involved in difficult companies, burning our risks etc.;
- deficiencies in HR process of leading the Leaders – who provides feedback to whom and on what basis, etc.
- external environment and regional specifics;
- lack of clarity about company’s goals, structure and strategy.
Here are some highlights of solutions that will help you attract, nurture and sustain leaders:
- don not motivate people, rather stop demotivating them;
- have “Jesters” (*) in the “Courts” of entrepreneurs;
- management by wandering around;
- using long-term loyalists as mentors rather than managers;
etc.
